About Me
Before I photographed weddings, I spent almost a decade as a newspaper photojournalist. My job was to be present for life's most important moments, sometimes joyful, sometimes heartbreaking, often completely unpredictable. I learned to work quietly, observe carefully, and recognise emotion before it unfolded. It taught me that the most powerful photographs are never forced. They're observed.
When I eventually stepped away from newspapers, I realised I wasn't leaving storytelling behind; I had simply found a different place to tell those stories.
For me, weddings are about the people. A father seeing his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. A quiet glance between two people that lasts only a second. Grandparents laughing together. These are the moments that matter.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of photographing more than 200 weddings across South Africa. I don't arrive with a checklist of shots to recreate; I approach every wedding with curiosity, blending into the day rather than over-directing it. Apart from a relaxed portrait session and a little guidance when needed, your wedding should feel like your wedding, not a studio photoshoot.
Photography has taken me around the world and earned recognition through awards including CNN African Photojournalist of the Year, Pictures of the Year International, the Sony World Photography Awards, and multiple South African photography awards.
Being invited to document a wedding is something I never take for granted; it's a privilege to witness such an important chapter in someone's story, and an even greater privilege to preserve it honestly.
